New 'Sex and the City' Movie? Yes; 'Friends' Movie? No

Here's a good news/bad news situation, although which is which may depend on your perspective. The first bit of good/bad news is that Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall has announced, and Warner Bros. has confirmed to E! Online, that there will be another Sex and the City movie, tentatively set to shoot next summer. The second bit of good/bad news is that former Friends star David Schwimmer has become the latest cast member of the long-running NBC sitcom to shoot down rumors that it will be made into a movie, which started spreading after the runaway success of the first Sex and the City movie this past summer.

Where do I stand on these controversial issues? I thought the Sex and the City movie was a disaster from start to finish, wholly unnecessary and completely artificial, and strained way too hard to dredge up conflicts for characters whose stories had come to a close. I imagine another one will be just as bad. As for Friends, I drifted away from the show in its last few years, but it wrapped up nicely, and it's encouraging to hear that the people involved are willing to leave well enough alone (at least until they get desperate).
