Legendary Canadian sketch-comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall, whose Lorne Michaels-produced early '90s TV series is a pop-culture institution thanks to endless reruns on Comedy Central, is plotting a comeback on a few fronts. The five members (Bruce McCulloch, Dave Foley, Scott Thompson, Mark McKinney and Kevin McDonald) have been touring more regularly in recent years, and now comes word that they will be creating a new eight-part miniseries for Canada's CBC network, tentatively titled Death Comes to Town. Various rumors have been circulating about the project for months, and Foley recently revealed that it will be a longform narrative, not a collection of sketches, with the five actors each playing various roles. No word on an American network outlet, but certainly a project like this will be a hot commodity.

In other Kids news, Scott Thompson hinted after the troupe's recent performance at The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas that they were on the lookout for a permanent gig in Las Vegas, and in talks with the people at Caesars Palace to set something up possibly three or four nights a week. As a Vegas resident and Kids in the Hall fan, I'm very excited about this news, especially since I missed the Comedy Festival performance. With the live show and the miniseries, it's definitely high time for a Kids in the Hall renaissance.
