Preview: 'Scrubs' Season 8
The venerable hospital sitcom Scrubs makes its move from NBC to ABC for its eighth and possibly final season next week. Here's a look at the first couple of episodes.
Where We Left Off: J.D. had a new son, Elliot broke off her engagement, and Dr. Kelso stepped down as chief of medicine at Sacred Heart.
How the New Season Shapes Up: Creator Bill Lawrence has said that he wants to get back to the simplicity of the show's earlier seasons, and indeed these episodes showcase strong character-based comedy and plenty of heart (maybe a little too much). Scrubs has always been reliably funny if rarely brilliant, and this season continues that trend, although the new intern characters (inserted to prepare for a possible Zach Braff-less ninth season) are a bit annoying and superfluous at the moment.
Airs: Tuesdays, 9 p.m. EST on ABC
Premieres: January 6
