Preview: 'Secret Girlfriend'
The Pitch: Based on a web series from Atomic Wedgie TV, this lowest-common-denominator sitcom features a dude torn between a psychotic ex who won't acknowledge she's been dumped and a seemingly perfect new girlfriend, all while spending time with his two bro-tastic friends. The twist? The "main character" is just a point-of-view shot that all the other characters talk to.
Verdict: Boy, is this a horrible premise for a show. Okay, the British comedy Peep Show sort of did the same thing, but that one switched points of view among characters, and let you in on people's thoughts. Here, the main character never gets a name or a personality, and never speaks. Except, obviously he does speak, because other characters respond to him, and he's not a mute. It's incredibly distracting and incoherent, and it doesn't help that everything else is just a parade of crude unfunny jokes and gross leering at hot women. Absolutely terrible.
Airs: Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. EST on Comedy Central
