The Office has always been pretty good at booking big-name guest stars, and the show has lined up another impressive get for February: Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates will appear in several episodes, starting February 4, as the CEO of the company that purchases Dunder Mifflin. Bates has about a million credits and wide range, and I think she'll fit in well with the show's ensemble.
Perhaps more notable to longtime fans is original Office creator Ricky Gervais hinting recently that he could appear in an upcoming episode as his character, David Brent, from the British version of the show. Despite the many international versions that have been mounted over the years, no character from one show has ever appeared on another, and obviously Gervais is the father figure for the whole franchise. Whether it would be clever or just a cheap gimmick, however, is the real question.
