Bless the folks at Shout! Factory: They don't mess around when it comes to presenting collections of beloved but underappreciated TV shows, and their latest release is a massive 25-disc box set of the entire run of cop sitcom Barney Miller. The set includes every episode from all eight seasons (only the first three seasons have previously been available on DVD), plus tons of extras including the original pilot, new interviews and commentaries, a companion book and even the entire first season of the never-before-released spinoff Fish, starring Abe Vigoda.
That's a wonderful gift for fans of the scrappy cops of New York's 12th Precinct, whose show mixed comedy and drama in an innovative, low-key and realistic way. Check out The AV Club's Noel Murray's great essay on the show from last year for an idea of the riches available in this set.
