So far, the fall season has been good to new comedies, with all of the shows that have premiered so far still on the air, and some even getting picked up for full seasons. But one show that was set to premiere at midseason has been axed before it even had the chance to air a single episode.
Next Caller, starring comedian Dane Cook as a vulgar radio DJ forced to work with an uptight co-host, was picked up for six episodes by NBC, but Deadline reports that after producing four episodes, the network decided the show wasn't working, and has shut down production and declined to air any of the episodes. If this spares the world more Dane Cook, I don't see how it could be anything but positive.
