WGA Awards 'Louie,' 'Modern Family'

By February 19, 2013

LouieThe Writers Guild of America gave out its annual awards on Sunday, with the top award for comedy series going to Louie. The award for individual comedy episode went to Modern Family writer Elaine Ko for the episode "Virgin Territory," and HBO's Girls picked up the award for best new comedy series. In a surprise win, Portlandia picked up the award for best comedy/variety series, beating out such perennial favorites as The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live and The Colbert Report (even though, to me, Portlandia isn't a a variety series and probably doesn't belong in that category).
