A unique sitcom, 'Arrested Development' is a mock documentary of the Bluth family's fall from success. After the patriarch is arrested, one of his sons, Michael Bluth, tries to hold the family business -- and the wacky family -- together.
Is It Worth Watching?
'Arrested Development' rewards regular viewers with plenty of inside jokes, so the more you watch, the funnier it becomes. The documentary style gives it the feel of 'Best in Show' and 'Waiting for Guffman,' so fans of those movies will appreciate this brand of comedy. The show has unfortunately been cancelled halfway through the third season, to the last episodes will run through the end of 2005. The series is available on DVD if you want to catch up from the beginning.Characters
- Michael Bluth, the middle son, perhaps the most normal member of the family, tries to be a good father and save the family business.
- Gob Bluth, pronounced "Jobe," the oldest, is an aspiring magician who rides a Segway.
- Buster Bluth, the youngest, has an unnatural attachment to his mother and his Roomba.
- Lindsay Funke, the daughter, is a flighty activist.
- Tobias Funke, Lindsay's husband, is an aspiring actor/ex-psychologist/closeted gay man.
- Maeby Funke, Lindsay and Tobias's daughter, rebels for attention, and recently picked up a job as a studio executive.
- George Michael Bluth, Michael's son, shares a room with his cousin Maeby (and is secretly attracted to her) and runs the family's frozen banana stand.
- George Bluth, Sr., the family patriarch, was arrested at the beginning of the series and has since escaped jail.
- Lucille Bluth, George's wife and the matriarch, rarely seen without a martini in her hand, strives to keep up her socialite lifestyle in spite of the family's financial troubles.
- Oscar Bluth, George's twin brother, has an ongoing affair with Lucille, might be Buster's real father, and is frequently mistaken by the police for George Sr.
