The 2011 Emmy awards for TV comedy were dominated by last year's top nominee, ABC's half-hour family comedy Modern Family (which garnered 17 nominations). Modern Family managed to almost totally dominate the supporting actor category, with four of the six nominations. The show won for both supporting actor and actress, along with awards for writing and directing, plus the top award for comedy programming.
New shows doing well in the nominations included FX's Louie, Fox's Raising Hope and Showtime's Episodes, although none of them picked up major awards.
