TV Comedy Golden Globes 2009

The 2008 Golden Globes were reduced from the typically lavish ceremony to a terse press conference, thanks to the Hollywood writers' strike. This year's ceremony faced no such peril, and went forward in typically lavish fashion.

The TV comedy nominees and winners looked awfully familiar; not a single new show made the cut, and the majority of 2008's nominated series were nominated again. Notably snubbed was ABC's Pushing Daisies, nominated in 2008 in three categories, but none this year (which is a shame since its second season has been fantastic).

And as has been the trend in recent years, a number of shows that could better be categorized as dramedies were nominated in the comedy categories; the only nomination for a traditional laugh-tracked show came in the supporting actor category, where Neil Patrick Harris of How I Met Your Mother was the lone comedy nominee amongst actors from dramas, miniseries and TV movies (and ended up losing to them).
