A decade later, ABC Family put the movie into development as a TV series, signing Greek writer and producer Carter Covington to develop it for TV, and enlisting both Miller and original film director Gil Junger to return. The show premiered in July 2009 to record ratings, and a second season was soon ordered. Ratings slipped in the second season, though, and the show was canceled in May 2010.
