History:
In 2007, ABC developed an American version of Armando Iannucci’s British political satire The Thick of It, but it didn’t get picked up as a series. Other networks, including HBO, expressed interest in adapting The Thick of It, and Iannucci signed a deal to develop an HBO series. Instead of adapting The Thick of It, Iannucci created a new series for HBO, Veep, in the same style.

Veep was created by Armando Iannucci, creator of the British series The Thick of It and director/co-writer of the Oscar-nominated movie In the Loop. Iannucci, Christopher Godsick and Frank Rich of New York Magazine are the executive producers.
