Work It follows two very manly men who dress as women in order to get jobs as pharmaceutical sales reps. They have to live double lives, keeping their secret from their friends, family and co-workers.
Aired:
January 3-10, 2012 (one season, two episodes) on ABC
History:
Work It was announced in May 2011 as part of ABC’s upcoming fall schedule, and when it premiered in January 2012, it was greeted by protests from gay-rights groups including the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and the Human Rights Campaign, which alleged that the show could harm the perception of transgender people. With all the controversy, the show premiered to solid ratings, but it received dismal reviews from critics. ABC defended the show, but after the ratings fell with the second episode and the criticism continued, ABC decided to take Work It off the schedule, leaving four produced episodes unaired.
