Accidentally on Purpose follows the life of 30-something newspaper film critic Billie, who has a one-night stand with a younger man and finds herself pregnant. Deciding to keep the baby and move in with her youthful fling, Billie has to figure out a whole new unplanned life for herself.

Accidentally on Purpose premiered in fall 2009 as part of CBS' popular Monday-night sitcom lineup, and proved a successful companion for How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, with an order for additional episodes coming a few weeks into its first season.

Accidentally on Purpose was loosely based on the memoir of the same name by real-life film critic Mary F. Pols, and developed for television by Claudia Lonow, who also created the Showtime comedy Rude Awakening and the short-lived Oxygen sitcom Good Girls Don’t. Lonow, Lloyd Braun, Gail Berman and Gene Stein serve as executive producers.
