Entourage follows a group of friends navigating the ups and downs of Hollywood after one of them, Vincent Chase, becomes a successful actor. Vince’s brother and two friends follow him out to Los Angeles from New York, capitalizing on Vince’s success and working to find their own, while all four (plus Vince’s manager, Ari) deal with relationships and male bonding.

Premiered:

July 18, 2004

Seasons 1-6 are available on DVD.

History:

Entourage is inspired by the experiences of executive producer Mark Wahlberg as a young actor bringing his friends with him to Hollywood, although there’s debate about who came up with the idea in the first place. The Hollywood hook and Wahlberg connection got plenty of attention, though, and Entourage debuted with strong ratings and reviews for HBO in 2004, and has become one of the network’s signature shows.

Cast:

Adrian Grenier as Vincent Chase
Kevin Connolly as Eric Murphy
Kevin Dillon as Johnny “Drama” Chase
Jerry Ferrara as Sal “Turtle” Assante
Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold
Perrey Reeves as Mrs. Gold
Rex Lee as Lloyd

Creators:

Entourage was created by Doug Ellin, a former stand-up comedian and screenwriter, based on an idea by Mark Wahlberg. Ellin and Wahlberg serve as executive producers along with Stephen Levinson, Denis Biggs, Rob Weiss and Ally Musika.
