Louie is a mix of narrative and stand-up comedy, with comedian Louis C.K. telling jokes interspersed with vignettes starring C.K. as himself, a middle-aged, divorced father of two young girls, trying to navigate his daily life in New York City.

History:
In 2009, Louis C.K. signed a deal to create a show for FX, in which he produced a pilot on his own for a small budget. Louie was picked up as a series produced in the same format, with C.K. putting together each episode as writer, director, producer, editor and star.
