Nurse Jackie follows the life of New York City nurse Jackie Peyton, who works in a busy hospital where bending the rules is often necessary to best serve the patients. Although Jackie often knows better than the doctors how to properly treat patients, she has problems of her own, including an addiction to painkillers and a family that she keeps hidden from her co-workers.

History:

Nurse Jackie debuted in June 2009 as the highest-rated series premiere in Showtime’s history, and was renewed for a second season after only one episode had aired. The third and fourth seasons were picked up just as quickly.
