History:
Parks and Recreation was originally announced at NBC’s schedule presentation in April 2008 without a title, cast or concept. It was billed as a spin-off of The Office. Once Amy Poehler was set as the star, the show evolved into its own entity with a similar mockumentary style to The Office, but a separate concept, and eventually premiered in April 2009.

Creators:
Parks and Recreation was created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, both producers on the American version of The Office. Daniels, Schur and Howard Klein, who has also worked on The Office, serve as executive producers.
