April 9, 2009

See It:

Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. EST on NBC.

History:

Parks and Recreation was originally announced at NBC’s schedule presentation in April 2008 without a title, cast or concept. It was billed as a spin-off of The Office from producers Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, and scheduled to premiere after the 2009 Super Bowl. Once Amy Poehler was set as the star, the show evolved into its own entity with a similar mockumentary style to The Office, but a separate concept, and was eventually held until its premiere in April 2009.

Cast:

Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope
Rashida Jones as Ann Perkins
Aziz Ansari as Tom Haverford
Paul Schneider as Mark Brendanawicz
Aubrey Plaza as April Ludgate
Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson

Creators:

Parks and Recreation was created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, both producers on the American version of The Office. Daniels, Schur and Howard Klein, who has also worked on The Office, serve as executive producers.
