The Game, a spin-off of the long-running UPN sitcom Girlfriends, follows the lives of three women with close relationships to professional football players. Being the girlfriend, wife or mother of a pro athlete is anything but simple, as Melanie, Kelly and Tasha are all too aware.

Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on BET.
Season 1 is available on DVD.
The Game was conceived as a spin-off of the popular UPN show Girlfriends, and many of its characters appeared in an April 2006 episode of Girlfriends. The Game premiered as its own show the following season, migrating along with Girlfriends from UPN to the newly created CW network. When The CW decided to move away from comedy in 2009, The Game was canceled following its third season, despite a proposal to transform it into an hourlong drama. Thanks to fan support and the efforts of the cast and creators, the show was picked up for a fourth season by cable network BET in 2010. After record ratings, BET renewed the show for a fifth season.
