Weeds began as a series about widowed suburban mother Nancy Botwin turning to marijuana-dealing as a way to support her family. Since then, Nancy’s gotten deeper into the drug trade, involved her family and friends in the business and even moved near the Mexican border to work as a drug runner. Through it all, she’s remained dedicated to doing what she needs to do to provide for her loved ones.

History:

Weeds achieved immediate success when it premiered in 2005, with high ratings and positive reviews, and has since become a signature show for Showtime, as well as consistently one of the channel’s highest-rated shows. Weeds has been nominated for a number of Emmys and Golden Globes, and Mary-Louise Parker won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy in 2006 for her portrayal of Nancy Botwin.

Creators:
