On The Office, Dwight Schrute (played by Rainn Wilson) is one of the top salesmen in the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the Dunder Mifflin paper company, despite his almost complete lack of social skills and general off-putting nature. Dwight is a humorless lover of order and authority, who spends much of his time sucking up to boss Michael Scott and working to undermine co-worker and fellow Dunder Mifflin salesman Jim Halpert.
Dwight Schrute’s Home Life:
Dwight’s full name is Dwight Kurt Schrute III -- his father and grandfather were both named Dwight Schrute as well. Dwight lives on a beet farm outside of Scranton with his cousin, Mose. The two cultivate beets which they then sell to local businesses, bringing in a healthy income in addition to Dwight’s salary from Dunder Mifflin. Dwight has also converted his farm into a bed and breakfast known as Schrute Farms, where Jim and Pam once stayed.
Romantic Relationships:
Dwight is surprisingly successful with women despite his awkwardness, and seems to have a certain animal magnetism. His primary relationship over the course of the show has been with Dunder Mifflin co-worker Angela Martin, who is similarly humorless and emotionally distant. The two were together until Dwight killed Angela’s cat, and they have periodically hooked up since then, even while Angela was engaged to another Dunder Mifflin employee, Andy Bernard. At one point they entered into a contractual agreement to procreate, although it never produced any results.
Other Interests:
Dwight is a devotee of various martial arts and a collector of weapons, and was at one time a volunteer sheriff’s deputy. He is a big sci-fi fan, which is a source of much of his taunting from Jim. Dwight is rules-obsessed and adheres to a strict code of personal justice, which he expects others to follow as well. Thanks to his beet business and frugal habits, Dwight is relatively wealthy and was able to buy the office building housing Dunder Mifflin and become the company’s landlord.
